Animal Husbandry: The winter season is at its peak. At this time the temperature is continuously falling. Cold wave and cold winds are making life miserable. Even in the villages, the situation becomes very challenging. On one hand the farmers are struggling to save their crops. On the other hand, this season is very difficult for the animals as well, that is why animal experts give instructions to the cattle to eat and drink and take special care of them. In this season, any kind of carelessness with the health of animals can be very heavy.

Specially talking about small animals like goats, many times due to increase in chill in winter, they become victims of cold and diseases. In order to save goats from all these problems, right management of balanced diet and lifestyle etc. will also have to be done. Vaccination has to be done on time, so that there is no loss of life and property due to diseases.

Give a balanced diet

Animal experts tell that goats need special diet in winter. Good diet has to be given for milking good amount of milk from goats daily. Feed tur, gram, lentil straw to goats in this season. By feeding 50 grams of fenugreek and 30 grams of jaggery daily, goats do not get affected by cold wave. Goats should be fed neem, peepal, jamun, banyan and acacia leaves instead of simple fodder.

Give fresh water

Goats face shortage of water amidst increasing cold. Due to this, health starts deteriorating and milk production is not available, so from time to time, clean and fresh water should be given to the goats. If a drinking water tank has been made, then put slaked lime in it, due to which calcium deficiency in goats will also be fulfilled.

Protect from cold

Make special arrangements in the stable to protect the goats from cold and cold wave. Make arrangements for clothes or bedding especially for the lambs of goats. Sometimes lambs get pneumonia due to cold.

In case of such a problem, contact a veterinarian. Keep the animal enclosure covered in winter, so that the cold air does not enter inside. Spray lime and phenyl after cleaning the inside of the stable as well, so that there is no risk of infection spreading.

Build the Warmth

Often a drop in temperature is observed in the morning and evening. At this time, create light heat in the animal enclosure by lighting a ring or a fire, so that the animals can sleep comfortably. Make pulleys out of jute bags to cover the animals and always use dry bedding. Leave the animals open when the sun is out, so that blood circulation remains in their body.

Protect from parasites

There is a danger of spreading bacteria and viruses in winter. This not only affects the production of milk in goats, their newborn lambs also complain of diarrhea and pneumonia. Many times the lambs struggling with this problem also go to the mouth of death, so on the advice of animal experts, give anthelmintic medicine to goat and lamb.
